I dun really like the use of the word anime... its narrows things down too much... Anime is short for animation so its not exactly wat we do

ok... But that depends on how you wanna see it... Anime used to mean only Japanese animation outside of Japan...

But now along with manga, it is defined as a subcultural both inside and outside of Japan. There are even books based on it, the Japan Government even define anime as one it's soft-power aka culture. And it includes anything related to anime and manga, with manga sometimes forgotten...

Well, I think we can quickly settle this thing.
Firstly, we have to generate the list of suggested names.
Secondly, we have a vote by all members of SPLA (including graduates) to carry out the name change or not, at the same time we show them the list of the previously generated names. By doing so, they can see if there is any desirable name they will like SPLA to change to or not.
Thirdly, if more people vote for name change not to be carried out, then it won't. End of story.
But if more people voted for name change, then we will do another voting for the choosing of new name. The name with the most votes will be our new name and we will accept it.

Lastly, how about designing a new logo or redesigning the old logo after all the votes are over, should it change or not.
I believe this is the fairest and efficient way to solve this issue.

I like SPLA and i dont find its name soiled or anything. I dont see anyone looking down on any of us either.
Well if JCC looks down on us , its thier business cos i dont see how much better they are .

I just read this thread, I kid you not, so pardon me for kicking some dust around and digging up an old thread.

I am not sure where the idea of JCC looking down upon SPLA comes from, but I would like to for this one small moment, in my capacity of pres of that club and an SPLA member, clarify that nobody over there will like to do something stupid and harm relations. As someone who straddles both sides, I would like to apologise if there are any shortcomings in efforts to heal old bad blood. As with myself, some of us on the other side are SPLA members too, and looking down on SPLA literally means shooting ourselves in the foot.

Please come and find me personally if there are things to clarify. If there were some things said about SPLA that are inappropiate supposedly coming from JCC, I sincerely apologise here for that.

Hey its all cool that ur in both clubs and all that jazz. And its also true that there are ppl like Ryan/Yong sheng, or w/e u guys call him over there, that I personally love having around.

But things werent always this way.

I rmb the yr JCC was formed which, if I'm not wrong, is the year I entered SP, there were some confusion among the freshies as to which is the "Anime Club" so to speak, and thus which to join. (I picked LA for Plamo, which I fail at, cant rmb if I signed up for JCC) Some joined both, some picked sides. I rmb my seniors being slightly pissed that a club concept that was pitched years ago and was rejected were being formed by "other hands".

JCC also attracted the more cosplayish guys and gals. (Did I mention we wanted a cosplay dept but got rejected cause SAA said it was a "Japanese" thing?) I guess all that Gundam scared the cosplayers and wat-nots away. We were jus a different crowd. Ppl joined LA either because of Plamo or to join the Inoue Manga lessons being held by us at the time, and once the Japanese Manga sensei left, so did most of our manga members. But that was all water under the bridge.

As u all know, Otakus generally arnt the brightest of the bunch, and they like to "differentiate" themselves. The thing that REALLY pissed me off was that some ppl, in order to exert superiority or w/e, started throwing terms like "Gundam and Hentai Club" all around the place. Not all of us have encountered ppl like them, but since I attend the Jap lessons in SP, I get to meet all the weeaboos in SP in one room once a week, thus increasing my exposure to faggotry like the one mentioned.

Hey, for all I know, those ppl arnt even active members of ur club anymore. Ppl going MIA from clubs is not exactly a rare occurrence. Besides, the JCC room is usually empty when I walk pass so its hard to say if those ppl are still considered "one of u".

But the bad impression definitely stayed... Wif me at least... The members of JCC at the time, or rather the ones I happened to come into contact wif, struck me as insufferable warpanese that are under the impression that Nanoha is the best thing to ever come out of Japan and just couldnt stand the fact that there could be another club out there that likes Anime as much as their club does.

So there, my side of the story. Thought I should clarify as well since its the "in" thing in PR to clarify stuff.

p.s.: Nanoha/Moe faggotry is EVERYWHERE now... In SPLA as well, so I dun really blame anyone in particular for having members like that... ...
p.p.s.: I've been told that my comments arnt exactly "Public Relations Friendly" so heres a DISCLAIMER claiming that all my opinions are my own and do not reflect the opinion of the club and stuff... ...
