Nope, nothing of the sort from anyone, be it jeno, shawn or random member A... If I dun surf the forum, I wouldnt even know this was going on... ...

But sadly there is a certain truth to the opinion that the name SPLA is soiled... We dun exactly have the best reputation in the sch... Thx to not only the Jay-See-See but also to us and some of our more prominent and un-bashful members. But I really dun think that is a valid enough reason to have a name change, y should we have to change our name because of wat ppl say or think about us? Its our name and I'll gladly wear it with watever dirt that comes with it, I have my pride thank you. Besides... I wouldn't want ppl that find our interests un-respectable to join us anywayz

I'm not saying that a name change is out of the question, but I do have some extremely huge doubts about it... And I have a mentality that goes something like "I can never name myself as well as my parents did"... Like it or not, given a choice or not, this name stuck around as long as it did and its gonna get some getting used to if I were to one day change my name to keanu reeves or sumthing... catch my drift?

I like SPLA and i dont find its name soiled or anything. I dont see anyone looking down on any of us either.
Well if JCC looks down on us , its thier business cos i dont see how much better they are .
Name change doesnt really matter as long as the name not only fits the purpose of the club and easily gives people the first impression on what we do. just like SP Life Arts ... we do ..arts..
Plastic modeling, Manga .. both are arts .
i dont see how bad this name is. kk just to not stray away from the point of this thread im gonna suggest a name :

I like this name, even though at first glance it has got nothing to do with us. But seriously though, I really like the SPLA name, true we didn't choose it, but I think it feels adequate and fits us just well. I don't really see the need to have a name that explicitly states what we do in the club, a name that gives a description about us is good enough.

SP Japanese Animation Subculture Investigation Group... or something like that? (Jay-sig) for pronounciation.

JASIG sounds a little too military and all though. I'd rather use this abbreviation on a Tank or a Stealth Jet instead...

I kind of like Life Arts the way it is, actually, but if more people are for name change, then I'm all the more willing the follow.

Now that is just disgraceful. You have no idea how hard, some worked to maintain the name yet here you are dissing it, when a name change is not even confirmed.

btw the name change is quite confirmed, as in, the matter is quite serious and quite confirmed that we need a name change. The officer just spoke to me on it on friday asking on the name change discussion progress.

oh i am soooorry~ i forgot there are still people who take pride in the old name of the club.

please lah, its THE CLUB that matters, not the name. i am only proud of the FORMER SP Life Arts club's achievements. The name means nothing to me, only what we have done, what our seniors have done, what everyone has done as a collective effort, but were under that old name that will be changed anyway. If you want to challenge commitment and amount of contributions to the club fine with me, i have my fair share of contributions and i can proudly say that i am the mostest committed member of THE CLUB (not the NAME of it, which i have no idea why people wanna associate themselves with THE NAME, and not THE CLUB). now.... can YOU? say it loudly and proudly that you are the most committed member of the club?

if you are trying to pick out words without reading double meaning then i am sorry this thread is not for it. Everyone here i believe is very attached to THE CLUB, but are mistaken and minunderstanding and associating it with THE NAME of the club (which will soon lose its meaning). look as much as you want to change it, i too want it changed. AND ASK YOURSELF WHO MANAGED TO SWEET TALK THE OFFICER INTO GETTING THE NAME CHANGE TO TAKE PLACE WITHOUT HAVING TO SPLIT PLAMO AND MANGA.

if you still want to fight over THE NAME, by all means open a new thread and do so please. this thread is for people who are committed members OF THE CLUB, and want to change the name of THE CLUB so we can represent ourselves better.
